Hydrotherapy rehabilitation

Hydrotherapy rehabilitation is beneficial for dogs who may be recovering from an operation or injury, dogs who suffer from degenerative joint disease, and those who have been paralyzed. Water therapy can also help dogs suffering from fractures, hip dysplasia, the amputation of a limb, neurological disorders and many more canine related problems.

Here at our Fit4dogs centre in the East Riding of Yorkshire, our Hydrotherapy treatment is carried out in either our heated 6m x 3m hydro pool with resistance jets or our state of the art underwater treadmill for all shapes and sizes of dogs.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses the benefits of the water - buoyancy,  resistance,  and hydrostatic pressure, to support a dog to move their joints. Water makes the body buoyant, so when submerged, the weight of the body is supported. This means the dog is not fighting gravity. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on the joints and this creates a much safer and supported environment for recovery after surgery or injury.

Other benefits include:

  • Reduced pain, swelling and stiffness

  • Increased range of motion in joints

  • Improve circulation

  • Increased speed of recovery

  • Gait modification

  • Increase tissue healing

"Fantastic facilities with caring and knowledgeable staff. Ziggy was referred for hydrotherapy following treatment at the ‘supervet’ Fitzpatrick referrals.
As I live way too far for him to go to Fitzpatricks for the hydrotherapy regularly I looked closer to home and found Fit4dogs.
So happy with Ziggys progress and how happy he is when he’s in the pool"  Kate Sellers
